Once Upon a Tide
A storyteller, played by Academy Award winner Linda Hunt, speaks to us of a spell that has been cast that has caused everyone to forget about the importance of the ocean. One little girl, however, is determined to find a way to break the spell. She embarks on a journey to the sea with a magical shell that shows her how our health and well-being depend on the marine environment, and explains how the ocean is under threat.

4.7 million people visit the Mexican Riviera Maya every year to enjoy the white beaches, the sun, and the natural beauty, but few realize how simple everyday actions can impact the entire region.
Underscores the effects of uncontrolled development and personal behavior on the local society, the peninsula’s water system, and the Mesoamerican reef. It helps people understand the importance of the reef for the entire region. The film encourages viewers to spread the word and become a force for positive change.
